Own Place Scheme
Riverside has launched the Own Place sheme, which aims to help first time buyers afford their own place. The scheme will identify long term vacant properties and undertake basic refurbishment. The properties will be offered to first-time buyers along with a grant, in the form of a 25% reduction on the purchase price, to enable them to carry out further improvements. The buyer will be required to repay some or all of the grant if they move out of the property within five years.
The scheme is being piloted in Birkenhead, Bootle and Kensington and if successful will be rolled out to other areas of Merseyside.
