Riverside - Riverside Carlisle Feeds Back To Residents Following Consultation at Hallbankgate

3 November 2009

During September Riverside Carlisle undertook a consultation exercise in Hallbankgate, near Brampton, to put forward proposals for the development of social housing.

Following this consultation Riverside Carlisle is now contacting those people who took part in the consultation to feed back amendments that have been made to the proposals, taking into account the views that were expressed.

Malcolm Irving is the Development and Leasehold Manager at Riverside Carlisle. He said; “Following the consultation we have spent some time reviewing comments and feedback and have subsequently amended our development plans so far as possible to reflect this.

We have reduced the number of homes we propose to build from 14 to 10, which will now include 2 bungalows.

In addition the revised plans clearly show capacity for 2 in curtlage parking spaces per property, which we hope will alleviate concerns raised over parking issues.

Another concern that was raised through the consultation process was with regard to flooding. Whilst this area is not identified as a flood risk zone by the Environment Agency we have commissioned an extended Flood Risk Assessment. This assessment should show up any causes of flooding and as part of the proposal Riverside will include plans to alleviate these causes in the future.”

He went on to say, “The properties have been designed to be in keeping with the village and are being built in a mix of stone and render with stone quoins and drystone walling to the front. Other features will include chimneys and wooden windows. The homes are to be built to modern day standards and will have very high efficiency levels.”

Representatives from Riverside Carlisle will be present at Farlam Parish Council Meeting on Wed 4th Nov to discuss the revised plans.
