Riverside - Riverside asks local people to show their Pride in Cumbria

Riverside Carlisle has, this week, launched the Pride of Cumbria Awards in partnership with CFM radio.

Julie Sutherland is Marketing Communications Executive at Riverside and has been involved in the inception of the awards, she explained; “As an organisation Riverside invests heavily in local projects through the Revitalisation Fund which currently commits £400,000 per year for funding environmental, economic and social initiatives in Carlisle and the surrounding area. We know the importance of community projects and individuals which can make a real difference to communities and neighbourhoods. As such we are asking people to nominate the projects and people that have made a difference and made them proud of Cumbria.”

The awards are now open for nominations and the categories are:

  • Good Neighbour
  • Youth Project
  • Young Carer
  • Carer
  • Community Project
  • Safer Community
  • Environmental Project
  • Local Hero and,
  • CFM Cash for Kids Child of Courage.

    In addition there will be an additional award presented to the project, which has been funded through Riverside’s Revitalisation Fund, which has made a real impact to their community.

    People can nominate as many people or projects that they want and can do so until 17th March 2010 by visiting www.riverside.org.uk/prideofcumbria

    Those who have been successfully shortlisted will be contacted shortly after the closing date and will be invited to an awards ceremony which will take place in April.

    Julie is keen for people to get involved. She said, “This is a real opportunity to acknowledge those people and projects that make a real difference. It is always nice when someone recognises the effort that you put in and this is the perfect way for people to say ‘Thank You’.”
